film.

through the analog aesthetic of film

the beauty of film

of looking back on this memory

nothing beats the beauty

When my couples ask me why I love film, I always say it’s because there’s nothing like capturing a moment through the art of analog lens, where everything slows down, and stopping a moment in time is intentional in the best way possible.

Most people say that film photography has made its comeback in the wedding industry lately, but I believe that it had never died to begin with. There’s a reason why many couples opt for film, and it’s the reason why people started shooting film to begin with:

unreplicable nostalgia

Why film?

There’s something about film that cannot be replicated through modern-day digital technology. You can try to edit photos until it looks like film, but it won’t ever feel like film. There’s a nostalgia factor to it that is so alluring, and when you invest in film for big moments like your wedding day, you also invest in the wistfulness in those frozen moments in time that cannot be replicated. Another factor for why I think film is wonderful is because:

it's not perfect.

Just like in-the-moment snapshots taken on your phone before the moment is over, it’s not perfect and it doesn’t have to be in order to retain that nostalgia factor to it. Film photos can come out blurry, dark, too grainy, or too bright - but does that cause for any regret for having captured that moment to begin with?

I believe that no one ever really regrets capturing a moment, no matter how visually pleasing it looks. The point is that it is captured, that moment is memorialized, and you get to keep that feeling forever. That’s why I believe in the saying:

“Film is never dead.”
