Cozy Downtown Washington DC Engagement Session | Chelsea + Parker

This downtown DC engagement session was soo cute! I met Chelsea back in August when I was still visiting DC often, and she was one of the first few friends I made who were local to the area! Initially, we were going to do her and Parker’s engagement session in St Pete, FL, but when she found out that I’ve always wanted to photograph a couple in the snow (fun fact: I’ve never seen snow) and saw that I was going to visit DC in February due to a winter wedding I had that month, she was like, let’s do it!! Sadly, it didn’t snow on the day of their engagement session (it finally snowed right when I left -booo), but it was still an amazing session!

We spent some time before the engagement session trying to figure out which places to hit since having photo shoots in a downtown area usually gives a lot of liberty in having so many backdrops to choose from and what types of vibes you want to go for. We settled on the Tatte cafe because of the open windows by the indoor seating areas. Chelsea and Parker went the extra mile and got to that cafe extra early and just camped that place until a customer emptied the perfect spot by the window for me to photograph them through by the start of our photo shoot haha. I loveee how the bokeh looks so dreamy in those portraits of them in those through-the-window shots! They got some coffees to quickly warm up before we headed out into the chilly air outside. We boarded the metro that would take us to the lawn across the Smithsonians, knocking out some super cool portraits of them kissing with the motion-blurred metro in the background (another fun fact: they kept dip-kissing over and over for me and after several metros came and went, we got that perfect shot) and ended our session at beautiful brick setting the Enid Haupt Garden offered!
