JJ and Andrew’s chill personalities and gentle nature with each other were my first impressions of them, back when I met them for their engagement session at the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum in Alexandra, VA. I loved how willing and open they were to follow the flow of their engagement session day since it started off pouring as we struggled our way into the shelter of that museum, and usually, most people feel down when they realize there may be bad weather on their special day – but that wasn’t the case for JJ and Andrew. Once we got out and the rain had cleared, they were just so trusting in following me around Old Town Alexandria despite the fact that I’ve only been there once before. And that trusting nature about them both followed into their wedding day.
We started off at the Georgetown Marriott hotel where JJ and Andrew got ready with their bridal party. Each of them shared gifts with their parents and their parents shared teary smiles back before we finished up and hopped into the limousine to the church where their ceremony will be. Afterwards, we hopped back into the limousine and drove to the Lincoln Memorial for their private portraits since they said they really wanted to capture the beauty of DC in their photos, and what better place to do that than the Lincoln Memorial itself with the Washington Monument’s reflection?!
Despite how freezing cold it was (major props to JJ wearing only her wedding dress in below 30 degree weather!!), the two embraced the weather and bared their love for each other in these photos – and I’m absolutely in LOVE with how the photos came out!
Their reception opened up with bang – Arabic drums, circles within circles of guests hand-in-hand, and the couple lifted up in chairs. They did an amazing job at getting all the guests to interact and really feel like a part of the dance floor. By the time everyone had to sit back down again, you could hear the sighs of some people because they just wanted it to keep going haha. Afterwards, JJ and Andrew had their first dance (with sparklers and a fog machine – shout out to Toussaint Productions!) before having their parent dances and finally their grandparent dances. It was such a lovely night with all the amazing vendors that helped make it happen – Congratulations to this beautiful couple!
